Grenache is a grape not often made into single-varietal wines in California. The grape has been overlooked by all but some of the smaller Rhone produces. However, Grenache’s flavor profile is generally just what wine consumers are looking for. Thomas Clay’s Grenache in made by combining traditional French style and bright California fruit. Forward fruit and soft tannins allow for early consumption as well as some ageability. On the nose ripe berry and cherry notes intermingle with notes of sweet oak and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is silky smooth and with a nice finish. Try Grenache with paella and other Spanish dishes. Additionally, this wine would be great with any Mediterranean dishes with plenty of spice and deep flavors. |
